From little acorns grow great discoveries

A recent visit to Brierley Hill library for some research proved fruitful in many ways (more to come), but the discovery of THE ACORN, the house journal (staff magazine) of The Round Oak Steel Works (1857-1982) was my favourite by far.

Editions from the 1950s and 1960s showed design, photography and content that seems ahead of its time. I could have sat all afternoon and read through them.

Incredible portrait photography of a steel worker that wouldn't look out of place in a glossy magazine.

If you have memories of The Round Oak Steel Works and THE ACORN please get in touch. I'd love to know more.
